Domaine Barraud - Les Pierres Polies Mâcon-Chaintré

If Chardonnay scares you then we invite you to take a leap on the wines of the Mâconnais, where oak is traditionally used sparingly and the wines exhibit a side of Chardonnay not typically seen. These are wines with freshness, fermented in stainless steel and only aged in old, neutral oak barrels (75% stainless steel, 25% foudre) to give the wine a softness on the palate. 30+ year old vines and 250m altitude at the lower part of the slope. Daniel and his son Julien are masters of their craft, tending to their vines organically and using gravity in the winery to be as gentle as possible on the wine. This is beautiful and a wonderful food accompaniment.
